This painting is part of the series WEEDS ARE BEAUTIFUL TOO. I was inspired by the beauty of common weeds growing in my garden. Sometimes you have to get down in the weeds when gardening, and that is where I found myself as I created this painting. Imagine you are an insect one inch tall! The paper is very special and integral to the total visual experience – it was handmade in Japan from rice straw and mulberry. I used a giant Chinese brush and ink to do the painting.
